Hotel Château de Pourtalès
New wellness area for hotel guests
In January 2016, it was still hard to imagine that soon after the former stables of Comtesse Mélanie would be a cozy spa area for the hotel guests. The stables date back to the 19th century.
But already by mid-June, the spa and wellness area could be opened, including:
- a Finnish sauna by the renowned manufacturer Klafs
- a steam bath by Klafs
- a rain shower
- a reclining surface adapted to the shape of the body,
combined with a stress-relieving infrared lamp - a salt wall that helps to balance positive and negative ions,
thus creating a soothing atmosphere - a heated bench with warm and cold foot bath
- a resting area
A special highlight: for the concept, it was of special importance to preserve and underline the original character of the former stables. Therefore, during the refurbishment works the original tiles were removed carefully and reintegrated into the new wellness area.

2017 – Planning of a new building for further twenty guest rooms and a conference center
Together with the team of RENOVATIV GmbH, the Château de Pourtalès and its surrounding buildings have been continuously renovated and improved. Since 2009, the Château is a hotel and conference venue well-known beyond its alsacian borders, and at the same time a multicultural meeting place for guests and students from around the world.
Due to the successive extension and construction works, today the hotel has more than thirty guest rooms with a 3-star comfort.
In compliance with legal criteria concerning building protection and monument conservation, and in collaboration with architects and the ownership, RENOVATIV GmbH is currently working on the planning of a new building which will add an additional twenty, 4-star guest rooms and a conference center to the entire property.
